Thank you.

Uncategorized Nov 26, 2020

It's Thanksgiving Day here, in the United States, a holiday that for me, the immigrant, has become so very important.

Science shows a direct link between our ability to feel that sense of "thank you" and our overall happiness level.

"Research has repeatedly pointed to a so-called happiness set point—a baseline for happiness that makes some people just naturally happier than others, regardless of the external circumstances—gratitude research highlights the potential for raising that home base of happiness by as much as 25 percent," writes neuroscientist Friederike Fabritius.

So, how about we get happier by 25% right now?

Here is the list of all the things I am thankful for today (in no particular order) - as a way to invite you to write down your own:

  1. Air.
  2. The way my daughters' apple pie tastes right out of the oven.
  3. Arranging flowers on my kitchen table.
  4. Reading a random, no-matter-how-small reinvention story on Facebook - and sharing it.
  5. Laughing with my parents on Zoom.
  6. A chance to inspire a new generation of reinventors as a guest on the Business Bookshelf podcast.
  7. Re-connecting with an old client after a year of finishing the last project - and feeling that instant click.
  8. Holding my husband's hand when we're driving.
  9. A smell of a new book.
  10. Every single piece of technology that allows my life to be touched and enriched by yours - with no barrier or effort.
  11. Planning out our new free mini-training series inside the amazing Reinvention Society. (Have a topic you want me to cover? Share here.)
  12. Laughing out loud at my friends' memes popping up in my messenger at exact right time of near complete tiredness and sadness.
  13. Tea.
  14. Every teacher who ever cared enough to make my life matter.
  15. Feeling the might and strengths of my ancestors who often had absolutely no reason to hope but kept going anyway.
  16. Coming up with a new business model for an old business - and seeing new value created because of it.
  17. Love.
  18. Fresh bed sheets.
  19. Realizing that 2020 is not that bad after all.

I thank you for being part of my global reinvention family.

I thank you for daring to imagine a better way forward - and actually making it happen.

I thank you for every reply, every comment, every story, every courageous and hopeful attempt to go through this life fully alive.

Happy Thanksgiving.
